K, thanks. I am doing a header soon and saw this. Was thinking it was a little too close.

Last question (I know, I've posted a lot of questions lately), does everyone with a 97-01 XJ have a rubber hanger for their tail pipe as well as a steel hanger on the upper bend?

It is close but he should be fine. If you can move it over some and keep it that way go for it, but I wouldn't sweat it too bad.

I'd have to look.

The front is fine as long as it doesn't rattle.

No rattle, but when I initially start my Jeep the rear starts to make a crackle/tinging noise until it gets warm. I'm thinking it is this tack weld hanger that is on the upper part of the bend (right after the rubber one) that is heating up causing it to make that noise. Just seeing if this was stock or some stupid fix someone did to keep the exhaust from hanging.

The weld/hanger on the upper part of the bend isn't stock. At least none of my three XJs ever had it.

My last two XJs have had the rubber hanger but nothing on the upper band so I'd say that's not stock
