It's on wikipedia, so I guess that settles it.

I think the point the OP was making is that the gutter guard stuffed behind the grill is tacky, and I agree. Sad to mess up such a beautiful vehicle.

Jeep is the oldest OFF ROAD vehicle brand... that's what a jeep is... an off road vehicle. So you like the dodge grand cherokee SRT8 street station wagon. Awesome! go get you one. but for the love of god... why must a dodge (a strictly on road one at that) pretend to be a jeep? Think I'm gonna build a mud truck and call it a Corvette Stingray... or maybe call it a Mustang GT
This is Cherokee Forum and that is a Grand Cherokee. It's not for off road, but then none of my vehicles are driven off road either no matter if they can or not. Not all Jeep owners go 4 wheelin' guys. But they are Welcome here. JMO

That's what I'm seeing I guess. It's not really a grand cherokee IMO. To me it's just a Dodge Magnum with jeep badges slapped on it. And in this case a custom bumper.

I guess all I'm trying to say really is... Just because you don't speed everywhere you go in your Corvette, doesn't mean it's not a corvette. But I still can't slap some badges on my cherokee and call it a corvette.

I'm not saying you have to drive your jeep off road for it to be a jeep. The point in a jeep is that it is capable of doing those thing. I believe that's what the jeep name stands for... But what happens when you take away those capabilities? Do we just call everything a jeep that mopar slaps the badge on?

But do you honestly thing Jeep would still be in business if all they made was the Wrangler? Even the JK have a car like interior. Which appeals to more people. They know what they're doing...

the wrangler certainly isn't the only offroad vehicle they've every made. Our cherokees seem to whoop on alot of wranglers in the trails, lol. But all things jeep have kind of been faded out over the years since mopar acquired them. they did away with the 4.0. They did away with the xj. Started using only chrysler motors. Started turning them into chryslers basically. I understand it's a marketing ploy. Trying to appeal to customers who would normally only buy jeep, to get them to buy a magnum. I just can't agree with it.

who gives a F*** its a badarsh, fastest production jeep, any of you guys would take one in a heart beat, and if you guys that dont think their not real jeeps drive one you'd have alot of respect for them,i had an awd red srt8 hang wit me on the street up till 60mph and my stang runs mid 11's, i was very impressed wiht them after that. Like stated theres a thread like this on every jeep forum if you dont like the srt8's,commander and all the new ones then you dont need to waste bandwitdh on saying their not a real jeep. Jeep cant just make offroad vehicles when the econemy is going to crap they have to make other cars that appeal to everyone if their not 4x4, or solid axle oh well. Would you rather have jeep fold like saturn, hummer etc.

And all this talk about "it's not a real Jeep" ... whaddya think people said in '84 when the first unibody XJs rolled off the lines? I'm sure the ol'timers bust a blood vessel declaring that "it's not a Jeep". Heck ... some still do! (Hence: mine's called a stationwagon)

Just saying ...

almost every JEEP person turns their nose up at me till they see my JEEP muddy

Because after the govt. takes away all out "public" land, there wont be any reason to have an offroad s.u.v..

That's not a Grand Cherokee SRT8 dude. You're grasping at straws here. Let it go, and welcome anything that carries the Jeep nameplate. Including a Cherokee or Comanche 4 cyl. 2WD, or a ****** Jeep 2WD, that would never be considered an off road vehicle in your words. But they are still Jeeps!
