Default Hood vent homemade

Heres a hood vent that I designed on Google Sketchup. With paint I may have $10 in these. I have all the holes drilled out and ready to weld a little. They are 14 1/2" on the long side x 12" on the short side and 8" wide. The ridges are going to be 3/4 X 3/4 angle with holes drilled into the side facing windshield . They really shouldn't allow water to enter the engine bay. Let me know what you guys think

I dont see any problems with your design,
I might borrow the design when i get around to putting a new hood on if you dont mind

what are you using to drill the holes and keep them in line?

Go right ahead and use the design. as far as measuring just a tape measure. The actual holes in the ridges are easy. I just turned the angle over with one edge facing up. Marked your distance. Then go to drill press and just let the bit slide down the edge facing up and you will have a consistent distance plus the hole will be elevated up from the hood surface to keep water from entering the engine bay. of course this is being done before welding to the actual plate .i will post some pics up tomorrow when I get back in the garage

Always seemed to me like you could cut a rectangles out the hood and weld or rivet in upside down broiler pans for pretty good looking vents/louvers.
