Default homemade doubler

Has anyone ever made/seen a homemade 231/300 doubler setup? I've been doing research on it and I'm pretty sure I can pull it off just gotta figure out how to acquire just the new intermediate shaft for the 231 and how to get around welding the 231 since I don't have a setup for aluminum. So if anyone has any information on this I'd appreciate the help.
