Someone I know swears up and down that their 2.0 (non-turbo) Dodge Dart could beat my 4.0 XJ in a race. I'd possibly be inclined to agree with them until I decided to look it up and found this site which claims that the XJ has a quarter mile time of almost an entire second faster than the Dart. I found this surprising - but I'm definitely giving him hell about it.

Your thoughts? Could this possibly be true?

 

I could see a 4.0 XJ outrunning a Dart. My 4.0 5 speed MJ surprised me with how quick it is, for a 24 year old lifted truck. Not really fast, by any means, but quick enough.

 

0-60 in 8.2!!! I really doubt that, but cool none the less.

 

Someone with a 5 speed and 4.10s or auto/4.56s should put on stock size tires and see how it goes 0-60 lol

Im kinda impressed at how fast my xj gets off the line,i would do it!

 

i had a 2wd 4.0 5-spd short box mj when i was young. i used to scare the **** out of 5.0 mustangs...till about third gear.

 

I'd try it for fun, but I'd be worried of my axle snapping off or something.

 

I live in Orlando, the city where most of the time you will see 3 different types of patrol car on the same road at any given time. Unless you guys can convince Vin Diesel and Ludacris to show up and close down a stretch of road for me, that sounds like a great way to lose my license.

 

4.10s and 31s sucked. Overgeared, 1st was useless. Nice for crawling, but too much gear to be fast and usable.

 

I've test driven a lot of stock XJ's in my line of work. Not all of them are the same in 0-60 timing.
Some where slugs.. Some moderate and then others that get to 60 in an awful hurry.

 

Even my 33's with 4.56 is bad! It's almost slow because the gears are so short.
