Default High-Performance Jeep Cherokee XJ Builder's Guide

Sorry if this has been covered, but I didn't find anything by searching. Who has this book, and what do you think of it? Thanks!

It was written by Erics xj over on Jeepforum. Back when i was on JF(3-4 years ago) it was treated like the end all be all book on how to properly build an xj. Im sure it has plenty of good tips/tricks etc in it. But you can probably find all the same stuff on the net with a little bit of Googling.

7 year old book probably has quite a bit of outdated info. I'd stick with googling and these forums since it's all free and I'm cheap.

7-year old book has outdated information on a 12-year-old-or-older vehicle?

Not sure about that.

Because part numbers, vendors, ways to do things and technology never changes, right?

That's the cool thing about time...as it progresses, things change and people find easier ways to accomplish tasks.

I have it on my shelf with the cover easily viewable from my desk. A constant reminder that I need to keep modding. The concepts inside are still useful even today.

A quick skim through the Amazon preview is showing me a lot of information about the Jeep's factory hardware.

Due to the Jeep not being in production past the date of the book, I would say the information in the book is still reliable, up to speed, and solid.

The mere volume of information you suggest that has changed is minimal or negligible. That's not to say everything will be perfectly accurate, but it's a good little guide no matter how old it is.

FSM+Google+Forums is one hell of a guide too and they're free except the FSM.

But to each their own. Not my money being wasted in the end.

Yeah, man... I almost got the FSM for free, paid $8 for it (it's legit and there are nearly 2000 pages in it, I believe) and that included an AW-4 book.

Eric did a good job (we swapped books a while back.) I think he was sorely "limited" by the 144-page format that HP Books shoved on him, he'd have had a lot more to say if they'd have let him, and it would have been useful (we discussed it.)
