Default Hi-lift "PROTECTION" Sleeve

I was tired of puting my Hi-Lift in my trucks cab and I just put a bed box on my truck but its old and has rust inside for now and I did not want to put my nice jack in the rust and such so I came up with this. Blown innertube from a dirtbike cut to length. Need to do something for the larger part though.

The main body is what really needs protection, not the bar and slide.

Haha I was just about to say "It's not protecting the important stuff".

Yeah I know, Im trying to figure something out for that. Its currently wraped up in a small towel. But the rubber innertube protects the bar and slide from getting scraped or damaged by other stuff and protects things around it too.

I was thinking of taking an old pair of jeans and taking one of the legs and choping it and sowing up the bottom and just have it go as tall as the main mechanical part and putting a zipper on it. Make it pretty snug. Jeans are strong and it would absorb some moisture keep mud out and be easy to wash.

just keep it oiled and leave it open.
mine has been sitting on my rack for 8 years through all the elements.
i keep it lubed and other than the faded and somewhat surface rust, it works great.

If you know someone handy with a sewing machine, head to your local fabric store and get some heavy duty canvas or the like and a zipper and make yourself a bag. If not call your local upholstery shop or someone that makes boat canvases and have someone make you one. maybe even add in a few sleeves for other tools if you want.
This just came to mind, what about a gun case? I don't own a hi-lift so I'm not exactly sure on the size but I believe you might be able to find one that would work.

or you can buy an actual hi-lift protector bag. it's made of neoprene and costs about 30 bux.
