Default Hi Lift 48" or 60"

For X-Mas my wife is getting me a hi lift with the 4xrac to mount on bumper. I just don't know if I want to get the 48 or the 60. Im thinking the 48 cuz its lighter, but those extra 12 inches could come in handy sometimes. What do you guys think.

How much lift does your jeep have and what kind of wheeling do you do?

How much lift do the vehicles in your area have as well?

In my humble opinion, its better to have and not need than need and not have. That extra 12" could save you some trouble one day.

Right now I have a 3" but I will be working it up to 6 1/2. I do trail, rock and some mud.

Im gonna say go with a 60". Mine has been pretty close to maxing out and im at 3.5". The only issue is when my 48" maxed out it was super wobbly so I could only imagine what the 60" would be like. Also with the 60 you are limited on where you can store it. The 48" fits right perfectly in the back where are the 60" is to long.

The guys that I wheel with are at between 3" and 9 1/2"
I am leaning towards the 60" Im just trying to find a store I can buy it from so I don't have to order it online. Storage isn't a factor because I am mounting it on my bumper. The wife is getting me the hi lift, bumper mount and the neoprene boot to go over the mechanism.

Well the boot is a must if your gonna keep it on the bumper. The elements tend to kill the mechanism. Around here my local northern tool and equipment has them stocked. I got mine from 4wheelparts.com during there free shipping event but I know they also have a bunch of stores nationwide, that might be worth checking into.

Doesn't it also depend on where your lifting from?
If your lifting from the wheel (straps) to get it out of deep mud for instance,
lifting from the bumper would just raise the rig, but not get the tires up.

Well if you lift from the bumper or rocker, yea its going to lift the body but the body will only go so high before the wheels pick up off the ground.

If you lift from the rocker they will bend like tin cans, just like mine are now. Haha. Thats why the next investment for me will be rock sliders.
