Heck if that's your rationale, you should herculine the whole damn thing ... it's all gonna get scratched up, not just the flares. In fact, my flares are virtually scratch free while the sheet metal is custom pin-striped everywhere. Pictures simply do not show the condition of my paint!

I think its an excellent Idea for a rig that will see some wheeling, and potential for scratches, yet is a DD and your wanting it to look somewhat decent from day to day. If I remember right, the guy quoted me like 600-800 depending on what all extra he needed to do (i.e. doorjambs, interior, engine bay). Thats alot cheaper than any Quality paintjob you can get, and will hold up alot better.

Well I went ahead and did the flares black. Instead of using herculiner I just used Krylon Satin black. I like it alot better than the factory painted flares, seems to flow better with the black rockers. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions here are a couple pics.

Looks great, here is a pic of mine all cleaned up, i used a semi-gloss paint though

Next on my list is getting the end caps painted black so they dont stand out so much and blend in with the black rockers and bumper.
