Default Help with rpm problem (jumping)

I have a 2001 Cherokee Sport with a 4 liter and this is my problem. When you are driving along sometime you will feel the jeep kinda buck a little bit. When you feel the buck and you look at the tack you can see the rpm's jeep from like 2000 to 2500 or 3000 and back down again. My thought is maybe a bad or going bad TPS. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this problems?
