Default Help-Purchase 98 XJ

Hi I'm new here.
I'm thinking about buying a 98 Cherokee. It has 163,000 miles on it. AC doesn't seem to work. The paint some fade marks. There are some dents.

The major thing to me is that it's solid. I can deal with paint eventually, but rust... I prefer not.

It needs exhaust hangers. Driver door dented and seems to need new hinges. A bearing squeals horribly. I'm thinking Idler maybe. Also needs front and rear bumper.

An issue I'm not sure about... It runs rough when cold, but fine when it's warm. It seemed to have newer wires on it, so I assume my thought of tune up has been done.

He's wanting $1200 for it. I think I'll probably go for it. Any thoughts?
I plan to do rockers and part way up doors with bed liner if I do it. Maybe some rubicon wheels eventually too.
Thanks!

1200 bucks aint a bad deal. You can have all of the issues sorted out for less than a couple hundred dollars.

For 1200 I'd take it. If you want something as a daily driver then I may pass for something but if you are looking for an offroad toy if take it!

Sputtering. By the time I got to his long driveway it was idling fine. The damn bearing squeal was so loud, it made it hard to tell lol.

Daily. I'm shooting for a week after purchase get it up and going. The idle issue at start is something I can work on throughout driving it.
Right now I DD a Pontiac Fiero, redid the motor and trans on it, it's really clean, but it's a Fiero...

I'll know hopefully today if I'll get it really soon, or in a month.
I think with a little work it will be daily drivable.

I would use the banged up bumpers as a reason to get off road ones. But it does look good already.
