Default Help Me Decide on Shackels for Recovery

I just had a rear bumper/tire swing installed and want to put shackels on it in the loops provided. I seem to recall reading somewhere, when using shackels in conjunction with tow or recovery straps, it is best to use the flat style (where the strap goes) as opposed to the traditional rounded, which will scrunch up the strap and reduce it's effectiveness. Is this correct, what say the more experienced recovery mavens?

i use the round style. works fine. better for pulls when you have to be pulled at an angle too id say.

round is better, helps center the load on the shackle. although neither shackle design should be pulled from the side.

better to be pulled from an angle than left in the mudhole.
