should i get the 1.5 rough country lift. or the 3 aal? thats about the price range i have. but if i get the 1.5 i will do some major trimming to tuck bigger tires under. and i want wheel spacers either way. What should i do?

of those two choices go with the 3" AAL. its easier to add on to later and go bigger.

check out my post in the intro' about WV noob. thats exactly what I did. added onto the 3" AAL in the rear.

i dont actually want to go bigger. Because im enlisted in the Marines. and when i ship i wont be driving it. But what would a 1.5 with major trimming look like? Because i could do that myself. I hate sending things to the shops

the 3" kit will improve your ride quality big time. and it's really not that big. i think you might regret it later if you don't get the 3".

AAL sags after a while, so I would recommend shackles. but they are not hard to put on.

Agreed. Shackles are a straight forward install.

I was debating on 3 inch full leafs or a 2 inch BB. I decided to buy both and add them together. You will want more than 1.5 and will be happyer because it is easyer to add a BB on top a 3 inch lift if you want to go bigger down the road (You will always want more)

Well is there a site for about the same price. with shackles instead of AAL. still with new shocks and front coils? not roughcountry.

i don't know. but for the price you can't beat rough country. if you call'em, they'll probably change the aal for shackles. and you get military discount. i did.

do the 3" aal its not a huge lift but that way you have the extra cleaence plus you can still trim and fit even bigger tires. also like previously stated i would reccomend shakles for the rear bc the aal will sag. or look into s10 leafs to give you right around a 3" lift in the rear.

3" Lift, Shackles in the rear.
To be honest I bought it that way and concerned about the shackles originally but glad its got them now instead of AAL.

Today its sitting on 235/75/15 on stock wheels because the wife is using it for the DD till I fix hers or replace it.

It handles as well as a stock height XJ, rides a little stiffer but not bad.
I wouldn't waste the time in a 1.5" lift, you can run 235/75/15 on a stock XJ ok, so whats the gain.
