You also get the 8.25 29 spline Trac Lock limited slip rear differential, transmission cooler for the auto trans, skid plates on front, center, and full gas tank skid as well as tow hooks (2 front 1 rear) unless you have a hitch, then rear is replaced with hitch.
Another thing to look for in an XJ would be the UP COUNTRY Package, which will give you the 8.25 29 spline LSD{limited slip diff) in the rear, skid plates, tranny cooler, upgraded shocks and about 1 inch more in factory lift, and tow points.
What I find is the UC package is nothing more than upgraded shocks, springs and tires to get an additional "1" "lift. Or did I miss something? Utilizing upgraded shocks, springs and tires

It's a very rare option though. When shopping for an XJ there's really no point in looking at the packages or trim levels.
Here's why:
The newest XJs are 13 years old. Most have been beaten to death and repairs performed. Suspension will need replacing, pretty much a guarantee. Parts to upgrade are cheap and plentiful. Buy something that's CLEAN and in good shape with the basic features you want, eg. power windows and air conditioning. Worry about the rest later. Do not think for a second that a rusty Limited Upcountry is some how a better deal than a mint Sport.

Don't know if it was said or not but stay away from 96 on the xj. Lots of 1 off crap. If I had to redo it all I would go after a 98 probably.

Just bought mine 2 months ago stock. I've been looking for about 6 months. I had to wait for taxes and winter to be over. I also looked for a rust free, hp dana 30 and a Chrysler rear. Mine is a 99 with 128 on it. No rust. $2500 and as said before I am replacing almost all of the front end items since I added the lift and big tires. I have less the 5000 in her and only need to do ball joint and wheel bearings. It's my first jeep and I leave my 08 Sierra sit love driving it.

I have both a 2004 GC (Overland) 4.7HO and a 1999 XJ Sport 4.0.
The XJ has the auto, AC, BB, PS,PW, PL, Keyless Entry, Towing Package I think that's it.
The GC Overland if you can think of an option any option it has it including Nav, Remote Tire Sensors, Sun Roof, Up Country, Skid Package, on and on.
If I were choosing models it would be a 97-99 XJ and a 99-04 GC and look for a 4.7HO engine if possible it kicks ***.
Black Chrystal Pearl Metalflake paint with Black/Gray Leather Interior I'm biased but it is a beautiful ride. It rides like my Town Car and tows my race car trailer and the XJ with ease. Last winter we has over a foot of snow with drifts 2' on the country roads where I live out on the farm. I broke the trail first one out the next morning a Sunday its impressive on the 4 wheeling side as well.
Here is an older photo of the both of them together.

Arguably of course the best two years are 96 and 99 on the Xj.
2000 & 2001 have the dreaded 0331 head in it that is prone to cracking if you don't take care of your cooling system. They also have a low pinion Dana 30 front which you don't want if you don't have to. Not the end of the world though.
