Help! Cherokee trade.
I'm new to Cherokees, I've wanted one for over a year now and today I got an offer to trade my 98 mustang gt for one. I just wanted to know what to look for with the xj, and if you honestly think this would be a good trade.
I have a 98 Mustang GT 5 speed with 110000 miles. It has a k&n cold air intake, acuffab throttle body, under drive pulleys, sct chip, straight piped.
He has a 1999 custom jeep Cherokee 4.0 auto, safari snorkel, ORF rock bumper, 8k smittybilt winch, 4 inch Rubicon express suspension lift. Has 183,XXX miles everything works like it should but the driver window needs a motor.
The only thing that worries me is that he said the guy he brought it from gave him the wrong title and he couldn't get a hold of him after. So he would just write me a bill of sale and I would have to get a bonded title. Kinda scares me.

You have to watch with a 99 xj if it has the 0331 head, I think its 0331 I could be wrong with the number but I know sometime in 99 the Cherokee got this different head that is known to crack. Its more of a when will it happen compared to a will it happen so with 183k miles that becomes a question. It appears to be clean, if you look at it check the floors and the rocker panels and see if there are filled with foam and bondo, easy fixes if you know how to do stuff but for a trade you might as well make sure, most Cherokees have rust and lots of it. Plus check that chop and see how clean and straight it is

It's 2000 & 2001 that have the 0331 heads. They were started to be made in 99 but marked as 2000s because auto makers release the next year model in like October.

Since it doesn't have a title I wouldn't even bother. It can be a real big hassle to get one, especially since he doesn't even have the correct one.

Unless he comes up with a title,----NO DEAL---.... with the jeep being chopped it might even have a salvage title,or other leans on it. Don't do it!

Walk away from it, sounds pretty shady. No title, no deal. A bill of sale will do you no good if it's a stolen vehicle or has a lien on it.

Your mustang is worth more and the no title i would run away from it as fast as i could. The back half chop would scare me it don't look bad but that roll bar looks like it will break if you rolled it.If you really want a jeep find one low miles and virgin no mods at all.
