Done a lot of searching with no real results. My inspection is coming up in a couple of months and need to plan if I need to ditch IRO OTK Steering with heims (well secured ones though). Searching google and any law code I could find hasn't given me any strong results. So...
Does anyone know if in Virginia you are allowed to have heims in your steering? Or to put it another way, if they can/will fail you for using heims in your steering?
Thanks in advance for any help. Would like to drive my jeep (legally) through the winter.

I did a brief search and couldn't find anything lol. Best bet is to probably call and ask.
Found a few like this:

http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...s-for-steering
But nothing recent or definitive. Those two happen to contradict each other lol.

Hell yes call the inspection station and ask (not the one your going to) and find out, this really isn't the proper place to ask for legal advice.
Here its really just a brake/light/wiper inspection and pay your money.
Yes, but the steering components still have to meet the state of Virginia's established guidelines/criteria. That is the key.

Guess im soiled we don't smog and only time they inspect anything if its out of state or hasn't been licensed in 2 or 3 years. But even then its just the state police in a parking lot and its run stop lights horn and wipers.

I did have to install mud-flaps though after being pulled over 8 times in the course of two months.

I can probably get it passed at a small place down the road that just makes sure you have tires and headlights. Where I used to work told me they were illegal for state inspections a while back, but I've seen a lot of rigs running them around here with recent inspections.
My last inspection was at the dealership with stock steering with worn out parts and borderline dangerous angles and it passed, so I'd hope they pass this. Not the biggest fan of heims or this kit, but I don't see anything that could be considered dangerous.
Anyone get failed for heims/modified steering?
