Post Having trouble with my stock zj sound system

Okay, so just about a week ago I replaced the stock head unit in my 98 grand Cherokee with a pioneer DEH-P8400BH. In order to get sound out of the speakers I had to bypass the stock infinity amp that was located under the rear passenger seat. A few days after the installation both rear speakers blew out. Is this because I bypassed the amp? Is there anyway to connect an aftermarket head unit to the stock infinity amp or do I have to install an aftermarket amp also?

Probably too much power for the speakers. You can replace just the speakers while still bypassing the amp without a problem.

Won't it just happen again if I do the same thing?

Probably not if you purchase some decent speakers.
