save up and buy a 3/8s drive and socket set and a 1/2 drive and socket set eather snap on or crafts from a sears that way if you break em you get a free replacement

So to answer the ORIGINAL QUESTION....
Yes, Harbor Freight tools are worth using, especially if your late grandfather already bought them. They aren't the best tools out there, but they will get most light to medium duty jobs done.

Harbor Freight has been around since 1968, most likely before you were born. They wouldn't be a national chain of stores if they didn't offer good products.
Just because you don't like them for some odd reason, doesn't mean they are a bad choice.

Its true, HF hand tools aren't the best available. But they also cost a SMALL fraction of those "name brand" tools you suggest buying.
Go ahead and buy a 4 1/2" craftsman angle grinder. I guarantee it won't be $10 with a grinding wheel. And my grinder has lasted for YEARS taking plenty of abuse.

And why not go back and read the original post? I mean, you suggest I use my "intelligents" (not intelligence) to better comprehend the garbage you are posting. How about you read how the OP states he got a bunch of tools from his deceased grandfather and wants to know if he can and should keep them and use it.
He got them for free, there is a lifetime warranty. Why are you suggesting he get rid of what he has for free?

i saw somebody mention something about the harbor freight angle grinder...i needed one about a year ago and didnt' want to spend $60+ on one. i was at harbor freight with my mechanic buddy and i wanted to buy the grinder. he swore left and right that thing thing would only be good for about 5 minutes of use before it blows up on me...for $20 bucks (with a bunch of wheels) i took my chances...i've used that thing dozens of times now and besides it sounding like hell when you start it up the thing runs like a raped ape. just as good as the expensive ones and i'm not easy on it either, i used to have a makita angle grinder and for the price i'd take the HF.

Hey guys!
My questions is are harbor freight tools reliable? Everything i've heard said they are decent tools for the price. I know tools are not something to skimp out on, and i dont plan on having these forever as i will eventually replace them with higher quality tools, but should i just save and buy craftsmen or another higher brand? I cant see myself buying snap-on...a bit out of my price range.
I looked at this guide, but wanted your opinion.

For what Snap On charges they better be forged out of Unobtanium. Yes they make great tools but unless you work with them all day every day you dont need them.
Craftsman has been great for me. Sure I have split the occasional socket and broken a few ratchets but I have also Broken the head off of a Craftsman and Snap On breaker bar.
Craftsman honored their warranty and gave me a new breaker bar. Snap On said that I must have abused the breaker bar and would not warranty it. The dealer basically told me that since I did not have a reputation (active credit account) with him he would not warranty the tool.
Craftsman has always been good to me so that is what I will stick with.
