You're obviously going to get more people saying that the bfg's are better because there's a larger number of people who have/know someone who has them. Do your research and read from the pro's. I recently got a fourwheeler magazine that tested a bunch of new mt's. They put the hankooks very high in the rankings. I'll see if I can find the magazine and I will post what they tested and where it ranked.

The bfg's wear pretty good well any bfg for that matter but the hankooks are cheaper to replace if needed. It all comes down to is where the truck is mostly used. I have the bfg mtr km. And found that they cake up pretty fast unless ur aired down to like 10-15 psi

I wheeled a few times with a Grand that had those tires. They worked well for him. I did not note any night-and-day difference between them and my KM2's on or off road.

I found two tire tests #1 from fourwheeler magazine itself:
Test consisted of weight, balancing, static ride height(wrangler mtrs were the only tire that actually was the height it claimed to be), footprint when aired down (including the amount of tread contacting the ground, hardness, 100 miles of a combination of rural paved roads, multi lane asphault, and concrete freeways including dirt and gravel, and of course mud.
10th place. maxxis m8060 trepador
9th place. pro comp extremem mud terrain
8th place. BFGOODRICH MT KM2******************
7th place. Super swamper truxus
6th place. Pit bull rocker lt radial
5th place. Yokohama geolander mt
4th place. Nitto trail grappler mt
3rd place. Mickey thompson baja mtz
2nd place. goodyear wrangler mtr with kevlar
1st place. Hankook dynapro mt*******************
And also from petersens 4wheel magazine (a little older). I'm not going into details on this one....
5th place. Bfg mt km1
4th place. Gy wrangler mtr kevlar
3rd place. Maxxis bighorn
2nd place. Pro comp extreme mt
1st place. Interco truxus radial mt.
If you would like to get the magazine yourself and read the details the fourwheeler magazine is from april 2011 and the petersens is oct 2009 (yes I STILL have them both).

BFGs do last a long time, but they seem to take a lot of weight to balance out and are kind of spendy for a tire that has been around for over 20 years.

my cousin runs the km2s and my buddy runs the hankooks. the km2 are nice and they are pretty "soft" they flex around the rocks at normal psi really nice. the hankooks have a pretty thick side wall. he rides at 8 psi on the trail. 295,75,r16
i dont have the Hankook but someone in know does and he has had them at least 4 years and they wear very well and dont cake up with mud. They will probably be my next choice of tire just for the wear factor.

Greets...jcwclm got it correct to provide real information of testing that was really fair, and unbiased, imho. The new Hankook tire in question really established very high scores in every category. I'd prefer kevlar, but that tire has some ways to go before they get it right, and they do not make the smaller tire I would want. Over on another site, (NAXJA I think), there was mention that the Hankook often failed crawling around sharp rocks. A fellow there said the side wall protection really sucked! Me, well I must wait a year before I get summer tires, and I am watching tires closely. Hankooks are my number one choice at this time for sand, mud, and more mud. I use studless Blizzaks for the Alaskan winters on my XJ, and on my Spectra.
