Default Grooving my spare

Got bored today and decided it was time. It's just a spare so I wasn't all that creative and might go back and cut the center some more. For reference it's a 38x12.50x15 TSL Bias, can't do this to a radial. Hope to never have to use it but if I do at least it ain't bald any more. First is a squiggly line I drew as a guide and used for the most part. Next two are what I ended up with.

Sweet I got boggers at 80-85% and may groove them at 40% to run them longer since they have a ton of rubber on them .

On TSLs and Boggers you usually have around a 1/4" from when they are bald to the cords. I saw white a few times but just barely and it'll be fine. If the blade gets dull let it cool and replace it, bout killed myself trying to finish with one that chipped on a piece of metal I hit.

I may use a torch to pre-heat the rubber when I do them .

It's in the low 40s here but I was in the garage and had a small space heater on. Tire was cold but the groover was plenty hot enough to cut through it. Only time it got tough was if I was cutting out more than a 1/4" deep.

I'm looking at grooving now for lateral bite since it will be trailered everywhere this summer . I'm thinking a basic $50 groover should work fine ,but I've seen them up to $400 for the fancy ones .

Good work, sure brings some life back into a tires. As far as your Boggers 1tonxj, here is how i grooved the last set i had, really broke the lugs up and made a diffrence out of the tires. I did these last winter, didnt have a garage so i rolled em in the house 1 by 1 and let them set for a day or two to warm up.

Don't know what my buddy paid for his groover but I doubt it was much more than 50 bucks.
