grand cherokee overland
I have the opportunity to get a 2002 GC overland, not sure what that is but the truck is in beautiful shape. As a general question, my biggest concern is the transfer case in a grand. There seems to be 2 styles, which is better? I would like at least 4" of lift, 32" tires, nothing scraping the sky. Mostly on road use, snow and a 3 or 4 times a year to the local ORV park at the bad lands. I want it to be capable. not real wild about the leather seats, but I'll get over it. And if things go as they have been it will be used to recover my wife this winter, should she decide to go "off roading" on her own...thanks...Happy New Year....

Go for it if the price is right and it’s in good shape. I’m fond of the WJ overland myself. Likely you won’t easily find a v8 powered WJ that’s not full time all wheel drive. I’ve seen one so far and it was a Laredo not overland. Only things special with the overland are the H.O motor and if it has the optional nerf bars and navigation. I e been wanting an 04 myself. One common place for rot on the wj is between the front wheel well liners and the fenders. A lot of sand gets packed up there and holds water and toys away from the inside out.

i eventually would like a WK as well. They’re actually decent vehicles with some nice options available. Especially the last 3 years of production. After that the Grand Cherokees became pretty much the same as every other suv. To me the WK is right in the middle of the transition between a real jeep and a modern suv that are all very similar to one another. JMO.
