Got My Butt Kicked By Chrysler Torx Bolts ...
... and I know I'm not the only one.
So I finally got around to trying to find a tan rear passenger seat belt for the XJ because I cut my original when I built my cubby-sub. I've tried about 6 different junk-yard XJs with varied results: had a torx bits eaten by bolts - the tips simply broke off; I've had bolts slowly strip, down to a smooth hole; I've had bolts that simply put the PB blaster to shame & refuse to turn. It's always the last bolt that's under the rear seat.
So I finally quit yesterday after the guy at the yard helping me broke his bit & the darn bolt stripped with mine. What's the secret to getting these things out???

Can't really think of anything except a grinder. I hate those damn things. I'm working on getting a high wattage power inverter hooked up in my XJ so I can have power tools with me inside the junk yard lol.

Just a few weeks ago... i tossed a full set of tan rear belts from my 94.
Those bolts under the rear seat protrude to under the Jeep, these corrode pretty good. Hitting the threads good for a few days with PB and then taking a wire brush wheel attachment to a cordless drill usually gets the stubborn ones for me.
A good set of Torx bits help too.

The bolt is a T50, I have one left and I'm tired of buying them.
Dan91 I don't really see how a plug in power tool will help in a junk yard where they don't allow you to bring your vehicle into the mile-long yard ...

Take a hammer and tap the torx bit firmly into the bolt head before trying to lossen bolt. You can use propane torch in some cases to loosen the rusty bolts.

#1, I pullled mine out today. All the seat belts are torx 47 most use a 45, it is not the same, the 47 has rounder tips and just fits better. Toss it on a 3/8 impact and take your time.

The torx bolts should be T 55 actually. I have tried using a T 50 but its just a tad too small. You'll get a better grip with a T 55 bit of good quality.
Just to add though, I have not been able to remove those bolts on my XJ myself yet either. But I havent really tried that hard (PB or the wire brush). Those sound like good ideas. Also haven't had any luck with finding a new rear passengers side belt in the pick and pulls.
Good luck.
