I'm looking to buy a hitch for my 99 Cherokee primarily for a bike rack, but also the rare occasional towing. Where is a good place to look and how do I know what all will fit?

Thanks

Walmart sells universal ones if you want cheap. Easy to install, lots of extra parts. I have had mine for 2 years and still going.

Check your local jy. I pulled one from a '93xj to put on my '00. All I had to do was get the nut strip for the drivers side. Total cost about $70

+1

I can't say that I have snatched one, but every single XJ that I have seen in the jy, has one.

pretty sure acquiring all the necessary tools to make one will easily be more expensive than finding one.

I've been looking on craigslist recently. How can I be sure one will fit my vehicle before buying?

Picked mine up at a swap meet for $25, repainted it, and bought new nutstrips from JCR offroad [Which I highly recommend] which I think were $40

Also, if you have a factory gas tank skid, have fun getting it out. If you don't, install one with the hitch
