Good buy?
Hey everyone.
Thinking about adding to the fleet, and buying a 87 Wagoneer. The dealer is asking $800. Its got a blown motor. The body and interior are in great shape. I'm pretty sure it has a rear Dana 44. Not sure on the front. Oh yeah 185000 miles on it. What do you guys think? Is it worth it, considering that the motor is shot?

it would be a somewhat decent deal to get it for 500, take out the dana 44, and sell the rest of it piece by piece on ebay. you could possibly bring in a lot of money, but more than likely it will barely be worth the effort.

Thanks for all of the replys and advice. I could get a motor out of a junkyard and swapping it is not an issue (mechanics in the family). Are Wagoneers fairly rare? Anything else desirable about this vehicle, besides the axels? Just trying to justify spending ~$1500 on another vehicle!

The front clip is, depending on who your market is, some like to change out to the older double stacked headlights, like me. (So if you do get it, and part it, I got first dibs on the front clip, headlights and bezels and grille lol)

wagoneers are rare, but only for collectors. imo, it's not worth tying up $1500 in an 87 wagoneeer. but, you might make it worth it, if you combine some elbow grease and build a reliable drivetrain.

Thanks again for all the replys, everyone. I think I'm going to offer them $500, take it or leave it. If I do get it, I'll get some pics up! Thanks again.
