Is this a good buy?
http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/1696423740.html
so I went and drove this jeep today. Seemed To drive fine but it did have a CEL on reading P1494. I did find a vacumm leak on the intake manifold could that be all it is? He has owned it for 6 years and put mostly highway miles on it. The tranny was rebuilt by AAMCO had the syncs done he said. The front sway bay bushings were worn out not too big of a deal. Small dents n scratches here and there. Inside was decent too. He said when starting after sitting or while the engine was cold there's a lifter tap for a few mile till the oil warns up a bit. Oh and saw some oil near the rear main or appeared to come from that spot, that and what looked like ATF on the xfer case mounting bolts but couldn't see where that could be from. Probably from the tranny and xfer case where they are connected. Did appear to have a header on it too. Um let's see that's all I can think of. So would this be worth getting? I don't plan on using it as a DD but in order to wheel I have to make a rather good lenght drive. I wouldn't mind being able to DD but with miles on it would it scare any of you away? I am looking for a 4 dr 97-99 model 5speed so it fits the bill. I know these engines can last forever but should I keep looking? Thanks alot guys.

That's what I was thinking. Buy itand go through it with a fine tooth comb. I mean it ran good and drove good seeemed like it was taken care of I don't think he drove it off road any either so it's not been abused. Dunno hope to hear others thoughts. Like what all should I do to it if I get it?

Well I'm offically part of the Cherokee club as I went ahead and bought it today. I did get it for 2k. It runs great shifts great and the body and paint are in great shape. Other than the interior needing some good cleaning it's not a bad jeep. What I'll end up doing is rebuilding the engine this winter if I'm still in the states this winter since it has the ol lift tap on first start up for about 5 minutes. Gotta research this see how much it'll cost hoping not more than 500$.
My plans is it to flush the engine, coolant, and replace all the fluids bumper to bumper might not do the tranny since it was rebuilt 30k miles ago then detail the inside and out. Aftet that I'll be on the craigslist hunt for some tires and order a lift. Probably just get like 2-3 inch lift on 31s want to keep it mild with this jeep.

That looks REALLY nice man, and I think you got one heckuva deal for $2K, I wouldn't worry about the milage, and from the pics it looks like it's been maintained well, so that usually means regular oil changes, etc. Not always, but I think you stole that thing bud!,lol
