Going mudding for the first time soon, any tips?
So I'm going mudding for the first time as soon as I get my new tires shipped and mounted (Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs - 31x10.5x15) on my 00 XJ with a 3'' RC Lift. Catch is, I have 2WD. My friend is coming with his XJ, a 96 (with 4WD) with a 3'' RC Lift on 31s. I'm asking for some tips on avoiding getting stuck, getting unstuck, and just overall mudding tips? I'm very new to this - just got my full license hehe - and have no idea what I'm doing. Am I supposed to drive quickly, or put into one of the low gears and go that way? Also, if I do get stuck, where do I attach the tow straps on my XJ?
Thanks in advance guys. I'm really trying to get into this so all help would be appreciated.

Depends on your style. Generally you want the tires spinning a little faster so they can clean out the mud.
If you find yourself slowing down like you're going to get stuck, it helps if you move the steering wheel back and forth a bit, although in 2WD I don't think that would work.
You will have fun, but it's limited and the clean up sucks.

I am the same exact situation.... I have a friend with 1996 4wd and 31s on a 3 inch lift, just have him go through it in 2wd, if he can make it then you are good. If he gets stuck and has to put it in 4wd, then don't do it unless you want to get stuck. Do you have Dana 35 or auto locker ?
-Took me 3 hours to clean my jeep and wash the mud down the driveway, just for future warning..... But, the key with 2wd is to carry as much speed as possible(you will see bits that you will get stuck in if you don't carry enough speed), as long as you are clear and won't hit a tree.

I just kept mine in D.... When I was with my friend in his AX-15 1996 he shifted into 3rd then 4th when he was in 4hi and almost getting stuck.... Key is to keep wheels spinning as fast as possible and to maintain momentum(emphasis on this since you are 2wd). Don't keep it in 1-2 because it will automatically shift and if you keep on the rev limiter in 2nd gear you might throw a rod or do some unintended damage.

Well, I haven't ever gotten stuck, I have a tow hitch... So I would attach it there, maybe now would be good time for another member to pitch in. Because I don't know of any other tow points(front hollow tube axle ? Sounds like bad idea).
