Quick question I'm lifting jeep 6.5 inches and wanna know is that is it actually tall or not really? I'm 6.1 so what's your input? For other people is 6.5 to tall or what? I at least want 8.5 if not 9

I'm 6'2" and I cannot see the roof of a rig on 35" tires with 6.5" lift. no point to being that tall there is no benefit

if you put a 9" lift on a Cherokee this forum might implode

It's tall. What size tires do you want to run?

33's and sometime 35's . And second question. I'm running 3:07 gears. I'm thinking of going 4:56 but what u think? I just didn't won't 6.5 to seem on the short side of me being tall..

Well 6.5 with 33's won't look too bad with 33's and untrimmed fenders, 35's will look better but the 33's will look kinda silly up that high.

I would go 4.56 or 4.88 for as deep as i can go for crawling.

most of the guys on this forum are onboard with the 3.5" or 4.5" lift being better. trust me, 6.5" is plenty tall. you'll already have to be redoing your steering at that height

you will like 4.56 gears with your 5 speed. even on 35" tires

my only issue with the 4.88 idea is that I've never seen teeth sheared off the 4.56's. but I have seen a good handful of 4.88's broken

Guys in my club haven't had any bad luck with em. If it were up to me I'd run a set of 44's with 5.38's and 4:1 case to crawl anywhere. I'll do 4.88's but that's me.

Atmos is right, 6.5 and higher means new steering and long arms.

I wouldn't go any bigger than that. I personally wouldn't even go that high for only a 33-35" tire. Over 3" starts to get expensive. Over 4.5" requires even more to do it right.

to be fair one of those guys was running 36" iroks and the others are skinny pedal junkies. 4.88's are probably a safe bet. but I myself being a throttle jocky am happy with the 4.56's

I'm pretty set on 4.56. And I got one last question. I'm going to do the hack and tap and front drive shaft but the adapter for the front drive shaft in the rear where do I buy it at?

IMO 6.5 is tall mines a 4.5 prob around 4" now and I'm running full width with 35s and it's perfect but that's my opinion, the only reason I see lifting it above 6" of lift is if your doing only mud or you want it just for looks, for gears here is a good chart for ya http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-ti...atio-chart.htm

Where do you buy the adapter for the front drive shaft so you can install it in the rear?

Are you only goingto drive through mud and on level ground? Otherwise I cant even imaging wanting an XJ that high in the air. I was at 6.5" on 35's and hated my life.
Right now my jeep sits a tad under 6" of lift which is too tall, but at 84" wide it works great. Its also on a 40" tire though.
