Hello I have a 98 xj D30 front 8.25 rear. I need to regear to 4.56 for my 33" tires. I have seen a lot of discussion about gears but am looking for a more definite response. I have been looking at gear packages at rustys and rc just to simplify things with install kits etc. Is this a good route? And would it be better to get all the tools to install them myself or should I pay for someone to do it? I don't have a lift or anything crazy like that but I have done all the work on my Jeep myself so far and wouldn't mind saving a few bucks I just don't want to screw something up.
Thanks for the help.

Basically if someone posted a picture of shopping cart with everything I need (at a place with good prices and quality parts) then that would be the most helpful thing

this topic has really been covered a lot. you need:
D30 carrier (4.56 & up)
HPD30 reverse cut ring and pinion
master install kit
8.25 ring and pinion
master install kit
definitely pay someone to do it. you cannot do this yourself

I see your in NC, you should look into get your stuff from ECGS http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/ They are right out of Raleigh and they usually have kits with everything you need. And the shipping is practically overnight. As far as installing the gears I had my transmission guy install them for me. I was going to install myself until I found out about all the shimming and different things that had to be done

I have watched videos on installing them and obviously it isn't easy but it's not rocket science. I just think not having a lift might make it a real pita unless I took the axles out. And I could get the tools and the paint and stuff. Thanks for the parts suggestions though that helps a lot.

You'll want nice quality tools for the regear if you plan to do it yourself.
Pull the axles out, it's 1,000 times easier.
