Default Gas tank skid plate

Looking to purchase my first of many skid plate for the XJ. The "gas tank skid plate"will be my first armor protection. Want to see what aftermarket brands work better than others and what were the pros and cons. I'm looking for a full box design that's also simple in design. 3/16 vs 1/8. Don't really care if the tow hitch fits I'm planning on upgrading the rear bumper with a hitch built in once I know the two will be compatible. Some of the brands I'm looking at are Tomken and JCR off-road. Prices are good, product is top notch but wanted to see what others were using?

What year is your jeep. I found out the hard way that 97 and up have a larger tank and some of the aftermarket skids won't fit. I have a Rusty's and it's 1/4" and I cut off the back to make it fit. Still running a hitch so it's still protected.

I have a 2000 XJ. I don't want to purchase a gas tank skid plate that would require modification to the aftermarket bumper brackets because they use the same bolts. Just starting my build on this vehicle and I know with my past wrangler builds everything doesn't always work together.

Do some research. Some will say they fit all years and they won't.

TOM: Where did the install pictures go to ????

Looking at 2-3 brand gas tank skids. Want to install the hitch and skid
in the same time period..

Wonder which brand skid/hitch would fit best together ????

I don't think I took any install pics lol.

The jcr will work with a hitch or aftermarket bumper the bolts they supply are long enough to have the hitch installed below the skid. But you will want 1-2 people to help you position the skid and hitch to install the bolts
