Ok so i hate buying gas and when i do i hunt and hunt for the cheapest price. Is there any viable information out there talking about who has the best gas? (i.e Kangaroo, QT, Race trac, Chevron, Marathon, Texaco, etc...)
From what i can tell the Texaco seems to have the best near me but its not always the cheapest. I HATE buying gas from walmart and im pretty sure that gas is garbage anyway but i like the 10 cents off, so dont even bring that crap up lol

My XJs 4.0 runs on anything from the cheapest to most expensive gas and I didn't notice a bit of a difference between them in power or MPGs. I always just go with the least expensive gas I can find.

alot of debate on this, most people say gas is gas and it doesn't matter aside from octane rating. I can tell you this though... My wife drives my jeep to work every day, 5 days a week. The grocery store near us (Giant Eagle) has a gas station, and you get fuel perks for so many groceries you buy, so she was filling up there all the time, and complaining to me that the jeep was going through a tank a week. We've switched to shell regular and now she gets through 2 weeks on a single tank. Also, when I did my intake swap and had been running on the shell gas for a while, my intake ports were actually pretty clean. When I did my cam swap though and she had been running giant eagle gas, my ports and valves were NASTY. I just keep shell in it whenever possible and it seems to help. at least with gas mileage if nothing else.

http://gasbuddy.com/

Use it to check local gas prices in real time.

I use 7-11 here as they are the cheapest and lately they have also upgraded some stations with non-ethanol. The non-ethanol is typically still cheaper than anywhere else and I saw an increase in MPG switching from E10 to Non-Ethanol.

Gas buddy only works if 1. People update it 2. If you have a smart phone or computer. I dont have a smart phone so normally I just ask someone who does to tell me but that's not always an option

1. Not an issue where I live...
2. Didn't see that as a requirement in your original post.

I have noticed a change in mpg with brands myself. I use sonoco fuel and it runs pretty good on the highway and the gauge does not drop as fast as it would on other brands. I've bought gas at places like Cumberland farms and I gotta use more skinny pedal just to keep it rolling.
Not only that. I also mix up little coctails at the pump before fueling to enhance a cleaner burn from the ethanol crap thats in it. Ethanol has moisture so it ruins mpg on older engines.

Always use Irving. As far as I can tell its good stuff. Always get around 300mi/tank with it.

I notice a 2-3mpg increase when I buy gas from conoco/exxon/cenex instead of grocery stores and stuff that give you a discount. Makes it well worth the extra $0.03/gal.

Sorry. Its not a thread about finding gas or how to. This is about what brand seems to work the best for everyone. Basically MPG's and power but mostly MPG's. Sounds like im missing out on a lot of these places that yall know lol around me i have Marathon, Texaco, BP, Kangaroo, Race Trac, QT, Petro, Loves, Exxon, Chevron, and Sunoco.
