Fun with the CNC Plasma cutter...
Here is a JEEP logo I made when learning the CAD software in December - it isn't the right Jeep font, but it only took about 15 minutes on the CAD software (using the built in fonts, this was as close as I could get). I am drawing another one that is the correct font style.
This logo is 3/8" floor plate scrap. My XJ has a front and rear bumper made from scrap, and the steel to do my new tube rockers is in my garage. :-)
The pictures are as it came right off the machine, no grinding or de-burring.

I would be in the market for a logo for the back of my tailgate that says 4.3L V6

Let me get one in the propper Jeep case then I will see how much they cost to make. Probably not much as they are small enough to cut from scrap so the cost would be just a few cents plus what the labor/consumables are.
Probably about $5-10, but I have to get one made yet.
Welding it to my bumper was the whole idea (that and we needed something to burn on the new table to configure the plasma).

As long as it doesn't mess with production orders (i.e. when the burner would otherwise be sitting idle), and we can make a bit of money on it he will not care. Scrap prices are at $17 a hundred weight. I think I can get more than that- Say I calculate it costs $5 to make it and sell for $10, should be doable. Now if it comes out too expensive, I just won't sell very many! :-) I just have to get the drawing done so I can run it through the program to get an accurate cost on the consumables (gas and such for the plasma cutter). Once it is in the CAD program, I can nest and burn a bunch out of scrap (we scrap any plates less than 12" wide). I don't do this very often so it takes me time to draw them, once it is drawn the program will calculate the consumables based on the tool path... Again, I don't do this enough to even guess at what the cost is.
I'll keep you posted, I think I will have plenty of 3/16" scrap from when I burn out the new rockers/side armor for my YJ.
