Full size axle swap
So I got a dana 60 rear and a dana 44 front, and the 44 is ou of a j10 and its a passenger side pumpkin and it needs to be flipped to work on my xj, because of the transfer case. I'm going to gear them both 4.56 and run 35s but how do I go about flipping my front 44? I'm going to run leaf over axle too btw, seems nice

I got lucky findin this one and I can't buy just one axle plus I really like d60s so if I could flip the 44 it would be perfect

Flipping an axle isn't worth it, you have to get new gears that are cut in the opposite direction. It being upside down messes with the oiling in the diff and you can screw a set of gears... just get something else.

I am buying new reverse cut gears, I would jump on a 44 driver drop if there was one fr sale here but I can only find the axle housing for 100$ ad it's all I can find if I could make it work somehow I'm sure I could do it

You could press the axle tubes out of the diff, and swap them around, then press them back in and weld them in to get the diff on the correct side. But its a lot of work, and not worth it at all. Or swap transfer cases.
I'd sell what you have and buy an axle that will work. Dana 44's are cheap, Ive bought a few of them over the past few years, never paid over $100 for one, and all mine were complete and in good shape.

There is no benefit to forcing a pass. drop axle into an XJ.
Put it on Craigslist and get a Ford HP Dana 44.

if one were so inclined, couldn't you just cut off the knuckles, cut out the tubes, and reinstall the tubes and shafts on opposite sides to make it driver drop?

I am going to look at the axle again to see if there cast (I'm pretty sure they are) and figure out if I can't figure something out, I'm waiting to hear from a guy about a high pinion driver drop d44 axle case
