Hello im a newbie to this forum, my problem is my 89 xj keeps blowing its fuel pump. Everything runs fine for a little while then I hit a bump, and thats it, it dies on me, is there a wire I can check? Im replacing the ignition switch, dont know if that will help. Any suggestions?

 

You could look for any open wires, does the fuse blow? Might also want to check out the connector for the pump near the fuel tank. Oem tech would probably be a better place to post this question, you would probably get more response.

 

I've seen this problem before. You most likely have a loose ground wire on your fuel pump assembly inside the tank.

 

yeah if u have a poer probe of some sort check the fuses first then check you pump ground i also had the same prob

 

hey i didnt want to go in another direction but i recently replaced my fuel pump, and put a new one in and it is very loud! it is made by airtek, it almost sounds like just a piece of the mount is rubbing metal to metal on the tank itself or something. so i was wondering if anyone else out there has ever replaced one and had a similar problem or if someone could recommend a better pump that they know works great from experience in a Cherokee.
