I sold my XJ back in March and hadnt been on the site sense, though a few days ago i ran up on a killer deal on a 2001 XJ 4.0/auto with 108k miles, but its 2wd.. I know everything to make it 4wd is direct bolt on, but.... being that its a 2001, what year donor do i need to get the transmission/transfer case out of? Im not edu'micated on if any of the wiring/plug in's change throughout the years.. Also, ive been hearing a person can chop the tail shaft on the 2wd transmission to work with a transfer case, is this true? Just wanted to get a little info before i fork out any benjamins...

 

2000-2001 I think (but maybe 1999 as well?)
