No total standard 48K miles and fully serviced.

The reason I asked is 23mpg in the UK is expensive as a gallon 4.54L (IMP) costs £5.40 ($8.10)!!

However I had a 3.0L V8 Triumph Stag before which did about the same so used to this and considering the Jeep is 2 ton approx and shaped like a brick it aint bad!

I get about 25mpg going down the highway, but only if there's no stopping. According to my overhead console, my average mpg is 18.3, that includes both city and highway.

I have installed Dodge Neon fuel injectors, so that helped some.

Default MPG stats from my Gas Cubby app

I use an iphone app (Gas Cubby) to track MPG's on my cherokee. Hopefully the picture is readable. My AVG for normal driving is 20 MPG exactly. This is probably 60% highway and 40% in town / mountain roads.

I bought this Jeep with 288,000 miles from the original owner, he had maintained it well. I replaced all fluids, most of the cooling system, the shocks, tires, power steering pump, and other various parts prior to registration as it had sat for a couple years. It's still running great, and the MPG are pretty good! Just about at 300,000 miles!

(Just noticed you were only asking about Auto trannies. This is a 5 speed, but I think the data is still useful)

23 is excellent! My mostly stock '96 does 16-18 around town, and averaged 21mpg on combined highway and rural back roads over 1800 miles.

Mine is a 99 4x4 stick shift 4.0 and I got 25mpg on highway. I put a mild flowmaster and a k&n cold air and now I'm at about 27.8 mpgs. Though mine is all stock besides that. I believe mine has the higher gear sets though. Just got lucky maybe. Considering I didn't believe the guy when I bought it. Egg on face..... Lolz

UK gallons are bigger than US ones so you're causing some confusion here!
