Default Fuel consumption solved!

After replacing the pre cat and post cat o2 sensors the spark plugs the sparkplug wires the cap and rotor and oil change new radiator new water pump thermostat and fluids my 96 cherokee wasn't getting good fuel economy.

I work in a car yard here in Australia and I have to admit I'm under the hoods more then my own sometimes so I got mixed up and thought because my 4th gear slips after sitting idle for 5 minutes then going super low 1300 rpm at 45 mph. Miracle I know. I checked thought it was the transmission fluid low and added about a quart transmission fluid. But found out 3 weeks after that I added it to the engine oil. I've been pondering what the heck happened for me to DOUBLE my fuel economy.

That 4th gear is a miracle but not the reason for better fuel economy because I do city driving 5 miles most.

Must've cleaned the engine that well and made the engine oil less viscosity it worked perfectly.

Just some advice by accident

Substitute a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil for a quart of engine oil. Cleans it up nicely.

How do you accidentally add tranny fluid to your motor when the initial goal was to add to the trans????? Or am I miss-reading the post? It was a struggle to make out.

Probably added it via the oil dipstick tube

So I'm guessing he was actually just down a quart of oil and never actually checked the Trans fluid.... in which case if he checked the oil while it was running i'm wondering if the oil is now overfilled....

Ha no. Actually thought the dipstick was for the transmission fluid. I am a car yard manager for a used car lot so I'm under plenty hoods. Pretty damn bad if I got my own truck wrong. Well 10 hours a day 6 days a week will do that to you. Oh and no its not overfilled. Runs much smoother now. Total mistake but hey it worked. 4 or 5 weeks now still improvement.
