Fuel Additive
I'm going to be running about 180 miles round trip tomorrow and I was thinking about running a fuel additive. I always run premium because I feel that my ride runs smoother when I do. What are the good additives to use? I would like to hear everyone's personal experiences with fuel additives.

Its 4.05 for premium here and 3.85 for regular. I sure as hell don't ever use regular gas due to the ethanol. I guess I could use midgrade but it isn't like it kills me to fill up with premium or with regular. Have you ever experimented with different grades of fuel?

I don't think the 4.0 needs premium. I run Conklin's Fuel Mate Plus in all my vehicles (1 oz/10 gal). Improves mpg a little, keeps fuel system clean (that's the main reason I like it), and will also stabilize gas.

here in my country gas is very cheap and i don't use premium for the jeep we have 91 ,95 and 98
91 is fine its just waste of money to use premium for the jeep
also if you use premium all the time when you go back to regular you well have small issues (cut off , jerking etc

While its generally sane advice (higher octane rating is BS for low compression engine), the complete picture really depends on brand as to what the ACTUAL composition of the different grades are.
In these days of centralized refineries, the additives really make the difference in long-term performance and fuel economy. Third-party cleaning agents like STP, Lucas, Seafoam, etc only really work if your system is filthy in the first place. Many retailers increase the level of detergents and other additives as you go up in octane rating.
Anyway, switch to buying gas from one of these guys: http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html Run real gas long enough and you should never really have to do any fuel treatments again.
Another factor is the amount of ethanol blended in. Some engines actually run better with a bit of ethanol, some seem to do well on pure gasoline. Locally, Shell sells a 91 octane rating blend that is ethanol free. 89 and 87 are 5% and 10%, respectively. Some folks have experimented and observed better fuel economy on 91 Octane fuel, and calculated that they actually saved money over purchasing 87 with 10% ethanol. Based on stuff I've read this varies widely between vehicles so you'd have to experiment to come to a conclusion.
