Default Front axle

I was replacing the drivers side hub assembly on my 79 Cherokee sport. I had a bit of trouble getting the hub off of the splined axle shaft. I ended up pulling the entire shaft out of the unit.......its like 3 feet long and splined too.
Nothing bad happened here did it? It went back in easily and when I got the new hub on and drove the car all was well.
Did I screw things up?
thanks as always

Yeah you're good. The axle shaft slides right into your carrier, the hub is what keeps it in place and from sliding out
