Worked for me, thanks!
Mine has had 6 owners! What the hell

motorcharge 04-17-2013 05:50 PM

Hmm cool, apparently I'm the 4th owner. First owner only owned it for 4k miles, second owner owned it up until late 2011 for 5 months.

Crashed1 04-17-2013 07:16 PM

Thanks! That is cool!

Zack92MJ 04-17-2013 07:52 PM

Someone was just helping out a follow Mj owner and now Im just passing it on to my fellow Xj owners

Tamadrummer 04-17-2013 08:02 PM

guys....can you try mine because I might be reading it wrong. 1J4FJ58S3ML616171 is my vin #. here's the link that I used above with my vin # http://charlieobaugh.com/AutoCheckRe...1#full-history

Here's my problem. The owner all the way through 1/09/2012 was in cape coral and looks they sold it to a auction with 347,956miles. But I bought it 7/12/2012 as you can see on the report with 160,000miles. Good possibility the guy who sold it to me re-wound the odometer? Its pretty clean and I haven't had any problems since I bought it which makes me think the 345,956miles is a type-o

diesel.wrench 04-17-2013 08:08 PM

thanks! still working as of 9pm est

I saw that too! Not sure if you can rewind them but you can get one with lower miles no problem.

So I probably got screwed over. I've put about another 5,000 miles on it and it doesn't seem like it runs like it would if it had 350,000+ miles on it.
You saw it on your vin check?

I'd definitely report that to the proper authorities. Tampering with an odometer is a crime and should be treated as such.

Find out who auctioned it off and get all of the details for the vehicle.

Sec. 580.9 Odometer record retention for auction companies. Each auction company shall establish and retain at its primary place of business in an order that is appropriate to business requirements and that permits systematic retrieval, for five years following the date of sale of each motor vehicle, the following records: (a) The name of the most recent owner (other than the auction company); (b) The name of the buyer; (c) The vehicle identification number; and (d) The*odometer*reading on the date which the auction company took possession of the motor vehicle. [[Page 818]]*

Also report the fraud here. http://www.nhtsa.gov/Odometer-Fraud

I'd also check around your dash and cluster to look for signs of the cluster being replaced with a lower mileage one.

Fifth owner
Government Use

motorcharge 04-17-2013 08:35 PM

Check with your insurance company as well. They should be able to confirm if that mileage is correct or not.

You saw it on your vin check?

On the older style mechanical odometers it is possible to reset/adjust them.

123456bmx 04-17-2013 08:51 PM

I checked mine with the ebay one awhile back.

My 110k advertised was actually 201k and I'm the tenth owner of my Xj

Didn't bother me,she runs great

muffinman 04-17-2013 08:58 PM

I am a moron. I can't figure out how to do it.

Take you Vin, paste it up into the URL where the other one is. Its close to the end of the URL

Edit:
http://charlieobaugh .com/AutoCheckReport.aspx?vin=1j7ft26s9ml600717#full-history

Replace those numbers with your vin number

muffinman 04-17-2013 09:19 PM

Nope, still a moron. I get the vin decoder and it just tells me specs. Not previous owners or anything else.

XJriot 04-17-2013 09:41 PM

It's not going to tell you the previous owners information...it is just going to tell you how many previous owners there were.

Demonoid369 04-17-2013 11:17 PM

I'm having issues, mine keeps saying invalid vin. 1j4fj28s8v1548384? can someone help?

nevermind, the 1 after the v is actually a L.
only 7 owners, and mostly in arizona and near where I live now, not bad I say.

XJriot 04-17-2013 11:27 PM

Is this you? If so, change v1 to vL

Nice to know that my PO lied about replacing the OD. He said he replaced it and it had only 175K. I knew better based on the condition. I still got a deal.

The PO I got the jeep from never registered it and there is proof that the OD was higher than 175K in 2001 haha.

9 Owners she has gone around the block a few times haha
well its about to hit 300K but at-least I know the truth now.

http://charlieobaugh.com/AutoCheckRe...6#full-history

1SIC4X4 04-18-2013 12:13 AM

4th owner.
Mileage match up.
95 cherokee sport 164000 miles. yay :)

apac020 04-18-2013 12:26 AM

Wooo the seller didn't lie to me! 3rd owner, second owner only owned for 8000 miles. Pretty much a single owner vehicle, no accidents, nothing reportable :).

XJ-92 04-18-2013 12:40 AM

92 xj
10 owners
1 accident about 2 months after it sold with 521 miles on it
lived its entire life all over wisconsin and chicago area where im from. didnt get a spec of rust till 2 years ago when i moved to iowa.
in 2009 it got retitled 4 times

Sparkys92XJ 04-18-2013 12:46 AM

3 owners, 300k, miles no wrecks, and stayed right here in Missouri it's whole life! Thanks it worked great!

BlvdKreeper 04-18-2013 01:41 AM

Only 2 owners. I'm the second =) not much on the history. just registration renewals every year since new with 20 miles.

Dro 04-18-2013 02:56 AM

Well, I'm not sure I like what this is telling me. It does confirm what I thought about it tho. It was originally a lease vehicle from California. It was in a "ACCIDENT OR VEHICLE DAMAGE REPORTED: NON-COLLISION" in 2001 and "COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE (Case #:10332294)
VEHICLE DAMAGE REPORTED AS DISABLING" in 2002.

I have always suspected front end damage on this thing, but could never tell for sure. The front end (Hood, fenders, bumpers, trim, etc.) have junkyard numbers on them. The fenders are held in with self tapping screws (original holes are messed up or bent in most areas).

Malik3404 04-18-2013 07:15 AM

Checked out just as I thought.

My 93 currently has 131k. Last reported vin check shows 96k in 2004. Dude said its been sitting in the backyard for about 4 years.

Now if I can just figure out my high idle issue. lol

I know it's not going to give me previous owners info. It does not tell me anything about how many owners, mileage, nothing. Just technical specs on the vehicle.

muffinman 04-18-2013 09:19 AM

I was trying to get info on my TJ. My Xj was a two owner.

CherokeeSailor 04-18-2013 10:45 AM

anyone know why nothing before 32,000 miles is reported?

http://charlieobaugh.com/AutoCheckRe...5#full-history

(the first owner sold it to the next owner around that time is all i know)

No history before 2002 (1992 model) but inside the glovebox has a federal gov't placard and the interior was redone with plush carpetting and exterior repainted green. I doubt the miles are correct unless it was a barely used govt rig, but runs great even now.

1995YJ-1992XJ 04-18-2013 02:19 PM

Wow found out im the 3rd owner of my beat up 92 cherokee with 250,000 miles on it. But my 95 wrangler which is my baby that is in excellent condition with 150,000 miles on it I'm the 9th owner, that was a surprise I figured it would of been the other way around

PDXJ 04-18-2013 09:05 PM

Nice link thanks, Im the proud 3rd owner of my 1994 XJ with no accident history, and legitimate 152000 miles. Scored a 39 :D

AMCComanche2.5 04-18-2013 09:19 PM

Very cool Zachs, very cool. I looked my Comanche up and it has a great history. I'm the 2nd owner! with 131,000 orig. miles. cool! Info only goes as far as 1996.

Oh, scored a 60!

AMCDoug 04-18-2013 09:58 PM

My 98 XJ was originally owned by the Canadian government! Then the USDOT had possession of it for almost a year, is registered as a NON-US market vehicle!! Very cool! It shows when it passed a US Road inspection and a bond was released, allowing it to be sold in the US. Interesting to say the least!

Skyline 04-18-2013 10:11 PM

Couldn't find anything for mine and it think its a 2009.
