Found this XJ and need opinions
Hi Y'all, this is my first post and new to the forums. I've been looking at/for XJ's for awhile and not been an easy task finding a stock one for a Daily driver. I found this one the other day.

I've seen it in person and it looks nice, haven't had the time to test drive it or talk to a salesman. Planning on goin tomorrow to do that. Price is about a thousand over KBB suggested retail. What would be a good price to offer?

2000's should have the newer style heads that seem to be a concern. As well as low pinion front d30 that makes lifted drive line angles steeper. $7k is pretty steep. Really depends what your trying to do with it.
3-4k would be good to fair price.
Otherwise Keep your eye out for 98-99 xjs.

thanks for the quick replies.
Not sure what I plan on doing with a XJ, other than bein a reliable daily driver under $10K. I've always wanted to do some offroading or at least have that capability.

That's the problem with buying from a dealership, they always want more than the actual value of the vehicle so they can meet their proffit margine.
That one should be around $6,300 (if it's in mint condition which is doubtful) according to kbb.

Around here that would fetch for about $4.5k. The bulk of which would be that it looks rust free. Realistically however, $3.5k seems a fair asking price. I would personally keep an eye out for a 98 - 99.

If you have the cash:

Talk them down to $3800 if the mileage is good.

Yea, that is WAY too much for that thing... i have a '97 that i paid $900 bucks for and i havent had a single problem out of it yet.
Just take your time and look for the right one to fit your needs... just because someone has a low price on something does not mean that it is not still a good vehicle and visa-versa.
