Default fixed gas line leak now won't start

2001 cherokee 6 cylinder, I had a drip from the gas line where the rear metal line meets the front plastic one, under the driver's seat, it is winter here so i tried a quick fix by cutting the line and fitting a larger piece of hose over both, fixed the leak but now won't start, there is gas at the feul rail and it cranks for a scond or two when I put gas into the throttle body, but I am stuck now,, does doing what I did affect the pressure or something?

Have you verified pressure at the rail?
