Default Fix 98 or get a newer Cherokee

Hello all I have a 98 grand Cherokee. But it runs OK I think it has a problem with the pcm.should I fix the problem or sell it and get a newer Cherokee what year Cherokee is good and don't have the Pcm problem I heard 2002 Cherokees are good thanks

Barring something catastrophic it is generally cheaper to fix a present vehicle than to purchase another used vehicle that will undoubtedly need repairs as well.

I guess ur right I had the Jeep for a while and it's been serviced oil changes .I did plugs wires cap rotor new tires and back

Just keep in mind that people justify another vehicle for gas mileage, but it would take years to recoup the cost. Now when it comes down to a vehicle for a family member that's something entirely different. Safety and reliability become most important. For just me it's "will it more than likely get me to work in one piece?"

If you know for sure that it's the PCM, replace it. It costs a shiny penny but it isn't hard to replace.

Also do you mean a 2002 Grand Cherokee?

I'm sure OP means GRAND Cherokee. Personally, I am of the mind set keep dumping money into a POS than deal with buying another one, for my own vehicle. The wife, that's a diff story, I keep her in a newer vehicle (preferably with a warranty). I do all the work on MY vehicles, but send hers into the dealership. I also spend a good amount of time on the road for work. Nothing worst than getting a phone call, "The car broke down", when I am on the other side of the globe.

If you have to pay a mechanic to keep the vehicle going, buy something newer. Save your pennies and buy one around 3-5 years old. If you can keep it going yourself, carry on. My $0.02.

Looks like a refurb PCM is $200. That's nothing. Fix it.

I been doing lots of reading it might be the throttle position sensor it's never been changed its over 20 yrs old btw I found out I have a zj grand Cherokee
