You have to be an emt in order to be hired and once you are hired, almost all departments require you to become a paramedic. Thats in florida. I dont know how the other states work.

In NC firefighters are emts too. If you don't have your emt then you take it in rookie school, if you have it you get to knock off the last 4 weeks of rookie school. Also NC is one of like only 4 states where your firefighter certification transfers to any state. If you come from Florida, I think, to NC your certification doesn't count here, I know NY doesn't count. I've also heard to get your certification in Florida costs a pretty penny. It only cost me $200 to get mine here in NC

That's how you can do here in NC. You used to take a firefighter knowledge test but now you take a general knowledge test and go through rookie school if you get hired on. They changed it so they can hire people with no knowledge or experience and train them.

I have much respect for NY firefighters. They have a very tough depertment. And yes, Fire academy in florida is not cheap. Around $1,500. So much i could do with my jeep with that money!

CatBassin, how do you like your 3" with 33's? I was thinking of doing the same thing with my xj but with 32's instead.

It's fine just wish I had more flex. I can stuff the rear with the swaybar connected, I haven't tried no swaybar yet, but I don't do much wheeling where I need a lot of flex. When I first put my Bushwacker cut-outs on I had 32's and flexed pretty good. I had my 32's without trimming and it was alright. Funny thing is when my dad put a 3" on his XJ 4Wheel Parts told him he couldn't go over 31's, I told the guy that I had 32's. He told me it couldn't be done so I had to take him outside and prove it to him.

Nice! I think i am going to do the 3" with 32's but im planning on putting on 10" shocks instead of 8" so i get more down travel. Just will have to bumbstop so i wont have as much upward flex.
