Default Which first, adj track bar or new control arms

Im lifting 4.5-5 inches with a 3 inch kit and a bb on top of that. So due to money i can either get new controll arms or an adj track bar. Which is more important? I would put the other in eventually.

Lift it and go from there. If the axle is too far to the driver side then trac bar.If its too far towards the rear of fenders then control arms.I have the same lift that your going to do and have niether. Both my trac and control are stock. All XJs are different and you may not need them.

Thanks, seeing your XJ was the one that first gave me the idea, im going with rough country as well. Have you extended your brake lines or just relocated them?

well if you look at Rusty's with their 4.5" lift the give you a trac-bar and control arms so i would assume you should prolly want both but troy offers up a good point and both are good to have

My front lines are stock and were never moved at all and haven't had any problems. My rear hose I rerplaced with one from a 96 Dakota 4x4.It's 6in longer than XJ stock hose.

If you can find someone in your area, or know someone who has lifted their JK....you can use their rear upper arms, for your lower arms. Good for 4-4.5" of lift, and they have a nice bend inwards that will keep your tires from rubbing . I bought a set for $20 from a guy in my local jeep club who had em laying around. Also grabbed his shocks.

if your on a budget, check out ironman4x4fab
Call or email Andy there and ask about a set of fixed uppers and lowers, or just lowers
He doesnt have fixed lowers offered on his site but he can make you a set for a great price. with what is left over, you may be able to get a trackbar from him also? He is a vendor here also, so if you mention cherokee froum, he may give you a deal of some sort.

I did a 3" rc with 2"bb on top of it, have the adjustable lower control arms from iron man. Did a driveway toe set, used a bracket to relocate the stock trackbar. Now getting mild death wobble at 50 so have an adjustable trackbar and drop bracket coming. Did do a 1" transfer case drop but haven't had any driveline probs with or without it.
