Finally got 1989 4L Laredo - what basic upgrades should i do? not lifting
Finally, after a year of looking at junk, found a 1989 2 door, 4L, 4wd Cherokee XL.94k. one owner. This is a Laredo, has interesting rear windows with openers. Happy to invest and upgrade, but not looking to lift. What should I upgrade? thinking: headlights, cam sensor, steering bushes, new seals - rear diff seal needs replacing for sure, But could do shocks, springs and tire rods and arms to make safer. Anything else? where can I find a good list of basic safety/smart upgrades and sources for parts I can buy for my mechaninc? Thanks in advance of sharing your experience and expertise

You're in the right spot. There's tons of info on here.
Go to the Dollar Tree near you and get a 3 ring binder and some lined paper. Start at the front and slowly work your way back. Write down - Needs Done , Will Need To Be Done , Would Like To Upgrade
Then you can break down the stuff into smaller bites and it'll be easier to build your rig
I started with the brakes and front suspension. You can fit 30" tires without a lift.

I want to do front and rear suspension and brakes. As you have done some of this on a non lifted XJ do you have any suggestions for suspension kits, brake kits steering kit upgrades?
thanks!
