Thumbs up Finally did my brakes this past weekend

Pics below!

All of them are before I did anything to them. No wire brushing no brake cleaner. But I promise you I brushed everything and sprayed everything until I was satisfied (I am very picky now and almost threw needle nose pliers at my brothers roommate cause he set my brand new shoes face down in the grime deposit (from cleaning everything))

I should have gotten after pics I'm sorry but we just wanted to get everything back together. Just imagine brand new shiny everything

I won't lie though I didn't do ALL the work myself cause I didn't have the muscle for it (the springs are tough for me ok) so I do feel a bit guilty cause I wanted to say I did it all by myself and told my brother to not worry about having to help.

The only thing not replaced was the wheel cylinders. Those were still ship shape and looking good. I have the replacement parts when needed though. And honestly for it being the first time I've really got into working on my jeep and got dirty, it could have gone much worse. But everything is in order and I saved myself a little extra doing it myself with a little help from a couple friends haha (it kinda turned into a tiny party )

That giant crack wasn't there before. That was from my brother attempting to break off a chunk for a souvenir.

I feel so ashamed it looked this bad

Before wire brushing and break cleaner

One or two of the springs were so rusted they just fell off and crumbled 😬

I like the last pic...the one with the individual swinging the big effin sledge in the background, LMAO

That about sums up drum brakes in a nutshell...

Good job!

He got the drum off last though it's all about technique and sometimes gently tapping the drum along the outside edge to knock the drum off

I always smear anti-seize on the axle flange surface before putting the drums on. Makes it easy the next time they need to come off.
