Finally! After three long years...
Of trolling this forum and the Interweb looking for one, I bought an XJ! I already made a post about it, but here are a few shots! By the way, learning to drive a clutch is not too fun...
And there she is stealing the garage from my Jetta (temporarily, of course)
She is a '96 two-door, five-speed with 185,6xx miles. The engine looks immaculate, and I only know of one rust-through spot (I'm going to pull the carpet, weld a patch and rhino-line the interior)
I got it last Saturday, changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, and wires on Sunday. I'm going to drain/ replace the tranny and transfer case fluid very soon. Maybe the diff too. If you guys have any tips on what to do maintenance-wise, please let me know. I'm trying to get it into really good shape, then start modifying it little by little. Thanks!

You're the third person that has told me to name it Barney haha. I'm not going to repaint it as of right now. She needs to name herself already, though
I plan on doing a little more lift (already lifted like 2' I believe), and going to 31s or 32s. I'm going to wheel but not anything hardcore like some of the people on here. It'll be more or less a "fun" vehicle to take off the roads and go camping and junk. I'm sure the longer I own it, the more things I'll end up doing, though. I'm only 20 so I'm fickle haha

It did name itself... Barney. Lol c'mon its soooo purple you can't not name it Barney.
Definitely get some bigger tires if you lift it more though, it already looks a bit odd.

Well here in Indianapolis I have yet to find 2 door that's not 2wd 4cyl 4 speed and in the junkyard. I gave up on it, and now want a Comanche. Which is harder to find one where the bed isn't diseased with rust and bondo. And the search continues. Lol
Back to the thread... Name it Barney!!!

Yes.
1. Like previously stated, 2 door 5 speeds are rare. Where I live, VERY rare.
2. In my area, ANY Cherokee with under 150,000 miles is priced at or above 4-5k. I got mine for $1800.
It was an on/ off search for the better part of three years, yes. It was tough to find one like I wanted with under 200k miles for the price I wanted. Plus, I'm 20 and within those years I had to buy a daily driver (Jetta), so for awhile I wasn't even concerned with a Jeep. Thanks for you support, sarcasm and all.

1. I'm pretty sure the purple is the original color. I've checked under and around everything and have yet to find another color. If it's a respray, they did a very good job.
2. NOOOOOOOOOOOO
2. NOOOOOOOOOOOO

YEEEESSSS! Lol
Accept it dammit. Barney for life fool!
Anyways the only factory purple I've seen is that deep dark pruple amethyst color. You should sand down a spot in the engine bay... maybe when you have to clean a ground location or something.
