Front flares are pretty straightforward - measure, cut, blah, blah. The rears are a little different. Here's a thread I wrote a while back about installing TJ flares on the rear of my XJ. Tip: I used 2 sets of rear TJ flares. At the time I couldn't find any write-ups about this, so I filled the void. There might be others available now. It's a long read with lotsa pics & corny humor.

Here's a site that might help. It has articles on cutting flairs, relocating stock flairs. http://www.madxj.com/ Or look up bushwhacker site. They have the PDF instructions for their flairs. You can cut & fold them to their instructions, And install whackers at a later date. And run without, until then. JMO!

Don't know if these were already posted (I see a NAXJA link above), but these cost less than BushWkrz, tho they're still extremely pricey. Heck, If you're not running at least 33s, they might be too large. What size tires are you going to run?

Id trim and modify the stock flares before id spend $400+ on a set for it. Seriously, just think, go to the woods, slide into a tree or rock and mess one up, welp homer there went $100.. Thats a negative ghost rider.. just my cents. Hell its a 4Wheel drive, let the mud fly

I cut both front/back and just bolted the stock fenders back up... I'm not sure why more people dont do this? I like the stock fender flares for sure! Bushwackers are pretty sweet, but as it's already been said, $400 could be much better spent elsewhere IMO. I bought a set of stock fender flares for $15, 2 cans of flat black primer for about $7, and with about two hours of sanding and painting I think it looks great, very easy to do.

Agreed, I would love to do this sometime to clear up some space for my tires and flexing. cut the fenders then find a way to put the stocks back on. But i dont have the time, money, or equipment

I made my flares out of some aluminum angle that I had laying around. It took between 12 and 14 feet to do all four. I used 1x3 for the front and 1x2 for the back. That would change with different wheel spacing, though. I bent the aluminum with a bench vise and used a cut off wheel and a grinder to finish them up. I can stand on my flares, so they're pretty sturdy, too.

For a few pic's of stock flares cut, look at some pics in my profile. I have a 97 (newer flares) but I installed a set of older flares from a 94 onto my XJ. I Trimmed just the outer lip, the one running down. Then I just painted them with they rubber paint crap. Hope this helps a little.

Hey I just found these. Never knew someone actually sold these as a set, but if you're thinking of going this direction, it eliminates the hassle of trying to find some used, and still cost way less than BW or Rusty's.
