I have installed two sets of the Rusty's flexible plastic flares on two different XJs. While they don't look as nice as the Steel ones, they are cheap and have held up great hitting trees, rocks etc. They just collapse when anything hard hits them.
Rusty's also sells some steel ones that look pretty nice- I just have other stuff I would rather spend my cash on.

Napier Flat Flares FTW

I've drug mine against trees and use my back flares as a step to load up stuff on the roof.
5" lift and 35s tuck real good, and the flares don't stick out to far which I really like
