Faded Fender Flare Fix
Bought my first XJ yesterday. Its a black 97 with faded fender flares so I decided that needed to be fixed immediately. Saw the heat gun fix online and decided I'd give it a try. Took about 30 min as I took my time. This is the before and after. Think i turned out well. Let me know what you all think.

That looks great! Did you have a heat gun or did you rent one? I saw the same some where but I can't remember. I ended up removing my front and rear bumper caps and painting them but I need to redo my side trim.

It does work pretty darn good. I discovered it accidently the other day while repairing a crash victim flare. I'm going to do all of mine when I get a chance, definite improvement!
Anyone have a "long term" report on how well they hold up once "refinished" with the heat gun?
Oh, and I cast a "second" on the Harbor Freight heat guns. I bought the orange one with two heat settings for $9.99 a while back just because I could probably use it and it was a good deal. Man, I have used the heck out of that thing! Decal removal, glue removal, drying out parts, bending plastic, straightening plastic... it's a handy addition to the tool collection!

I just grabbed a couple cans of krylon satin black and went over mine, made a HUGE difference, and has proven to be pretty durable. Ive rubbed em against rocks and trees and never had any marks I couldnt just rub out.
